5. Shared Rural Local Road/Bike RouteSETTING: Roadway with very low number of average daily trips and low driving speeds, such as rural roads, conservation subdivision drives, conventional subdivision roads, and neo-traditional subdivision roads. EXAMPLE: The portion of Johnnie Brook Road serving 20 plus homes and farms. OBJECTIVE: Continuity of a bike route for all types of bicylce and most age and ability leves, but not for the very young nor over-snow users. |
|
|
IMPROVEMENTS: Place "Bike Route" signs were necessary to guide bicyclists and alert motorists to the presence of bicycles. Grade frequently enough (on dirt roads) to maintain smooth enough surface for narrower tire bicycles. COST: Depends on the number of signs that are needed. |
